Who ARE WE?
My wife and I met 14 years ago and have been together ever since. Throughout those fourteen years we’ve traveled and raised two dogs. We’re now getting ready for the next chapter of our life and getting our home upgraded for children! We live in a 1950’s ranch on Long Island, NY that we inherited from my father. We believe – or more accurately our limited budget does – that we can learn to DYI just about anything.
We have done a lot of research and thought it would be helpful for others to see not only is it possible, but help show just how it was done, combined with sharing our failures and fixes so you don’t have to do all the research we did.
Maybe just for inspiration, maybe you want to actually DYI your own barn or fix up your house, maybe you want to hire a professional, or just like to look at old houses reach their true potential.
We hope you enjoy this journey with us as we showcase our endeavors while we take on those projects.
We aren’t professionals, but we are kinda handy.

Information Technology is my main source of knowledge and day job. Being the hands in Kinda Handy came from a father who pushed me to figure things out as a child and a wife who told me I cannot fail. While I do have screw ups, I believe that a professional is usually someone who has messed up a bunch and I have definitely succeeded at doing that, so I'm part way there.

IT is also my day job (yes we work together, no we haven’t killed each other…yet), although I also have a degree in biology that lovingly collects dust. I am the one who drives my husband crazy with the wish list, “but why can’t we just move that wall over a foot?” and the design that attempts to put it all together. We are looking forward to putting in our sweat equity to create a home we will love and raise our family in.
